Program:

  • Associate Professor Kathryn Ramsey will be presenting on 'Multiple breath washout: transition from research tool to clinical practice'. 
  • Michael Hackmann will be presenting on 'Measuring airway smooth muscle remodelling in asthma in vivo'.

Speaker Bios

  • A/Prof Kathryn Ramsey is a NHMRC EL2 Investigator Fellow and Co-Head of Children’s Lung Health at The Kids Research Institute. She leads a translational research program to understand disease pathophysiology and improve the clinical monitoring and management of children with muco-obstructive lung diseases. 

  • Michael Hackmann (PhD) is a physicist and early career researcher at the School of Human Sciences, UWA, whose research focuses on the translation of a new imaging technique as a diagnostic tool to measure and map airway smooth muscle remodelling in patients with asthma. His collaboration with engineers, clinicians, nursing staff and physiologists has the potential to investigate the origins of and develop treatments for airway smooth muscle remodelling.
